PHYSICAL THERAPY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

To become a physical therapist, you must graduate from a clinical master's or doctoral degree program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association and must pass a licensing examination given by the NC Board of Physical Therapy examiners. Most educational programs in North Carolina have eliminated the master's degree program and offer only the doctoral program as that degree will be required for new physical therapists very soon.

Some community colleges are affiliated with other colleges that are accredited to offer physical therapy assistant programs. Check with your local community colleges to determine whether they offer this program in collaboration with another institution. You may want to determine how many classes you will be able to complete locally and what courses will need to be taken at the accredited school.
